Iaki hotel management denied on Tuesday that the luxury venue in Mamaia seaside resort would be sold or that it would be for sale.
“The hotel and the owners have denied the rumour that Iaki would be sold. I couldn’t say where the rumour had come from or on what grounds. We put it on the success of our team, maybe it was a destabilization attempt,” Iaki general manager Dragos Tudorache told a press conference hosted at the hotel in Mamaia on Tuesday.
“It’s not true at all. If the hotel were sold, you would be the first to know, for we have nothing to hide. Anything can be for sale and we’d be transparent both on the sale or on a potential buyer,” Tudorache told the journalists.
Meanwhile, he announced good expectations on occupancy rates for this summer, just like in the previous two years. “We had record occupancy scores in 2015 and 2016. 2017 has the same forecast. We have about 97-98 per cent occupancy rate for July and August, so the hotel is practically full,” the GM revealed.
Most of the tourists at Iaki are Romanians. “We don’t have so many foreign tourists, maximum 20 per cent of the total. Foreign tourists usually have the same expectations from us just like from any other four-star hotel, such as related to the beach, pools, room service. The spa is not so requested in the summer, that’s why we’ll bring these therapies and the gym packages as outdoor as possible this season, in the beach and pool areas,” Tudorache stated. However a revolutionary indoor spa service offered by Iaki as a novelty this year is the Iyashi Dome, a detox infrared sauna helping the body get rid of excess fat and toxins, a therapy that has been less encountered on the Romanian seaside so far.
Iaki GM added that the spa services bring only 10 per cent in the overall business, while 28 per cent are brought by the business segment (conferences, teambuilding, etc).
About two months ago, Profit.ro reported that Romanian renowned ex-football player Gheorghe Hagi wanted to sell Iaki for EUR 9 M, after he has initially asked EUR 12 M.
