The average monthly household incomes in Romania were, in the last quarter of 2014, of RON 2,579, mostly from wages, over 52%, while expenditures stood at RON 2,537 per month, of which over 72% were went to consumption, and nearly 58% of consumer spending were for food and utilities, data released on Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute (INS) reveal.
According to the INS, the “average monthly incomes amounted, in nominal terms, to RON 2,579 per household and to RON 968 per person. The money income was on average of RON 2,179 per month per household (RON 818 per person) and incomes in kind of RON 400 per month per household (RON 150 per person).”
Regarding expenditures, they amounted, in Q4 the previous year, to RON 2,357 per month per household, respectively RON 884 /person, and represented 91.4% of the total income.
Consumer spending accounted for over 72% of the total, food and soft drinks roughly held, in the fourth quarter 2014 an average of 39.1%.
“A consumption component, with a relatively high share in expenses, is related to the dwelling (water, electricity, gas, fuel, furniture, equipment and home care). In the fourth quarter 2014 it represented 21.9% of total consumption expenditures. Within the housing costs, the largest share of expenditures is needed for the operation and warming the house (17.7%)”, INS informs.
