Industries Yield, the local unit of Italian clothing and lifestyle company Moncler, owned by tycoon Remo Ruffini, decided recently to shut down the factory in Sarata village (Bacau County), local media informs.
The reasons were not specified.
In the end of August 2015, Moncler bought, through its Romanian subsidiary, Industries Yield SRL, the garment factory Dialma, situated in Sarata village. The Italian company didn’t disclose the value of the acquisition. The factory in Sarata was producing garments for Moncler for many years, in lohn regime.
“We purchased this unit, which has previously manufactured almost entirely for Moncler. It is an investment of a strategic importance, as it represents the first phase in a project aiming the integration of a part of the group’s production and the creation of a strong industrial platform”, Luciano Santel, Corporate Executive Director of the group stated in November 2015.
Later in the spring of last year, Moncler announced that has completed the construction of a production unit in Bacau County, following EUR 5 million investment. Moncler has employed 600 persons for the new production unit, adding to the existing 300 employees of the former garment factory Dialma SRL from the Sarata village, took over by the Italians in the second half of last year.
“The construction of the production unit in Bacau is part of a larger industrial project of Moncler, having as purpose the know-how consolidation of feather jackets fields and the direct production growth”, Reuters Italy wrote at that moment, citing a release of the group.
Moncler has operations in nearly 70 countries and a network of more than 170 stores, with more than 130 owned directly. In 2015, the group reported sales of EUR 880.4 million, with 27 percent growth compared to the previous year and an operational profit of EUR 300 million, also nearly 29 percent higher than the precedent year.
