Kaufland Romania’s turnover exceeds the RON 10 bn threshold

German-based Kaufland is the third strongest company in the Romanian economy, with a turnover of RON 10.09 billion, steadily growing from year to year, and remains the leader of the domestic retail market, as a press release informs.

The company was in 2017 too among the most important taxpayers to the local state budget, bringing over RON 680 million.

Moreover, Kaufland Romania has invested more than RON 700 million last year in upgrading and expanding its stores network. The German retailer has currently a network of 119 hypermarkets and ended the 2017 with 117 stores.

Also last year, the company announced the increase of the minimum wage of commercial workers to RON 2,800 gross, including meal vouchers, which is over 60 percent more than the minimum wage in Romania.

For 2018, Kaufland has doubled its expanding investment budget to over EUR 200 million and plans to open 10 new stores, including in small cities. At present, over 70 percent of Kaufland Romania suppliers are local ones.
