MedLife extends in S-W Romania, acquiring the majority stake of an important medical operator

MedLife, one of the most important players on the domestic market of private healthcare services, has completed the acquisition of the majority stake of 55 percent of the group of companies Medical Center SAMA and Ultratest, one of the largest medical operators in south-western Romania.

Following this transaction, the two companies rebrand as MedLife-SAMA, a press release informs.

Sama has two multidisciplinary clinics, including a day hospitalization unit, a kinetotherapy center, two centers for labor medicine, six laboratories and several blood donation centers. SAMA operations are spread across five cities in Oltenia region: Craiova, Ramnicu Valcea, Slatina, Balcesti and Calafat.

„We are now part of the largest private medical operator in Romania, which will mean that this transaction opens new development opportunities. We launched a new medical center at Ramnicu Valcea and next, we will open a new imagistic center at Craiova. We are also planning to invest in upgrading and expanding the existing units. All this will contribute to achieving our objective that MedLife – SAMA to become the market leader of medical services in the south-western Romania,” medical doctor Alida Gogescu, General Manager of SAMA said.

According to MedLife representatives, this acquisition does not require a transaction at managerial level. With the completion of SAMA group acquisition, MedLife becomes the only private medical operator with presence in all country’s historical regions. For 2015, MedLife plans a turnover of EUR 100 million and targets several new acquisitions at national level.
