ANRE: Regulated gas price drops by more than 5% as of July 1

The National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) decided last Monday to reduce the gas prices on regulated regime by over 5% for all households, as of July 1, the authority informed.

“The Regulatory Committee of the National Regulatory Authority for Energy – has approved at the meeting on Monday, the prices for regulated gas supply to household customers, valid as of July 1, 2019. Thus, the prices for the regulated natural gas supplied to more than 3 million household customers with an annual consumption of less than 280 MWh, calculated according to the methodologies in force, will record a decrease of over 5% for the entire regulated supply market,” an ANRE release read.

This is mainly due to the lower prices of the two major suppliers on the regulated gas market.

Thus, the price of the gas purchased from E.ON Gaz Furnizare Romania drops by 3.71% and that from Engie Romania will be lower by 7.89%.

The main component of the regulated final price, which has determined the average decrease on the regulated gas market, was the domestic gas sales price of RON 68/MWh from domestic producers, regulated by the provisions of GEO 114/2018, with the modifications and further additions, the ANRE officials argue.

ANRE informed in late January that the energy and gas prices for household consumers on the regulated market will not increase until 2022, following the enforcement of the provisions of GEO 114/2018 on fiscal measures.

The release informed that the periods will be: for electricity March 1, 2019-July 28, 2022 and for natural gas January 1, 2019-February 28, 2022.
