The President of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) Misu Negritoiu said on Tuesday there is enough money to pay indemnifications from ASTRA and that ASTRA is not in a worse situation now, as complaints were registered before in regard to indemnifications.
“Of course there is money, there are only procedure matters of verifying the claims, approving the level of indemnification and settlement. However, we can’t make actual payments until the company is declared bankrupt, meanwhile we manage the files,” Negri?oiu said.
“There is enough money. People and the auto-services should not worry in this regard, there is money,” Negritoiu stressed again.
The ASF President added that he sees no reason for some insurers to increase the price of RCA (obligatory insurance policies).
The ASF President was present on Tuesday at the Chamber of Deputies Budget Committee to support the draft for the authorization and supervision of insurance and reinsurance operations.
The Council of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) called on August 26 for the bankruptcy of Astra Asigurari, insurance company under special administration after the company failed to attract RON 425 million in equity, and the indemnifications are to be covered by the Guarantee Fund.
