Internet users in Romania had, in 2016, average download speeds of 95 Mbps for fixed Internet, up by 78.4% and of 26 Mbps for mobile internet, up by nearly 35%, according to statistics provided by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), released on Thursday.
ANCOM conducts quarterly and annual statistics on the quality of service for fixed and mobile Internet access in Romania, including the average data download speeds, via Netograf.ro.
According to the source, the tests conducted by netograf.ro show that last year the average download speed for fixed Internet data increased from 53.2 Mbps to 94.95 Mbps in 2015 (+78.4%) and the average speed of data download for mobile internet increased from 19.2 Mbps to 25.9 Mbps (+34.7%).
However, there is also an increase in terms of average upload speed of about 46%, from 53.9 Mbps to 78.8 Mbps for fixed internet, and of 23%, from 8.39 Mbps to 10 32 Mbps, for mobile services.
Fixed and mobile internet statistics were registered by netograf.ro based on a number of tests on 182,500 users in 2016, which have been validated and used in compiling the statistics.
