Average net wage up by 8.4pc in December to RON 2,354

The average gross wage increased by 8.4% in December 2016 against the previous month to RON 3,257, whereas the net wage reached RON 2,354, up by 8.4%, the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs.

As compared to December 2015, the wage increase in December 2016 was of 11.4%, the real growth index being of 112%.

Most significant increases in average net wage were registered in oil and gas industry (36.3%), in forestry (30-32%), real estate transactions, storage and transport auxiliary services (17-24%)

Decreases in the average net wage were registered in rubber and plastic manufacturing, motor vehicles and trailers manufacturing (-2.7%).

In the state system, increases were registered in the health and social assistance system (up by 20.2%), in public administration (4.5%). In education the average net wage decreased by 4.9% following school holiday and cuts in the amount paid by hour to the teachers.
