Identifying the ways to carry on structural reforms is essential for drafting the roadmap of the process of adopting the EUR, and a work under the aegis of the Romanian Academy, to outline the steps to be achieved for this objective, would be extremely useful now, says the National Bank Governor Mugur Isarescu.
“I have already spoken several times about the importance of real convergence to ensure sustainability of meeting the criteria of nominal convergence and of structural reforms to increase real convergence. Therefore, identifying the ways to carry on structural reforms is essential for drafting the roadmap of the process of adopting the EUR. I would venture to say that a work developed under the aegis of the Romanian Academy, to outline the steps needed in order to achieve this objective, would be extremely useful in this moment, for revaluation of the coordinates of the entire process,” Governor Mugur Isarescu said in a message sent to the organizers of the international conference ESPERA 2015.
He argues that the public debate on economic issues in Romania needs objective opinions, rigorously grounded and he cannot think of a more appropriate institution to assume this role than the Romanian Academy.
The National Economic Research Institute of the Romanian Academy, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the National Bank of Romania and the Economic Information and Documentation Centre organizes during December 3-4 the 3rd edition of the International Conference ‘Economic scientific research – Theoretical, empirical and practical approaches’ – ESPERA 2015.
