The central bank management has declassified the salaries in the institution. The earnings of BNR Governor Mugul Isarescu, of the Deputy Governors and other leaders of the National Bank are posted on the institution’s website.
Thus, the monthly earnings of the central bank’s management are:
Governor Mugur Isarescu:
- Salary – RON 42,727 (approx. EUR 9,495);
- Indemnity as Member of the Board – RON 18,476;
Florin Georgescu, First Deputy Governor:
- Salary – RON 40,430;
- Indemnity as Member of the Board – RON 18,476;
Liviu Voinea, Deputy Governor:
- Salary – RON 37,764;
- Indemnity as Member of the Board – RON 17,103
In addition to the monthly salary and other income is awarded annually as follows:
- Holiday allowance – 100% of the monthly net salary;
- Other money allowances not exceeding 1.6 net monthly salary;
- An amount of the fund for employees’ participation to profit – depending on the amount of the fund established according to Art. 43 of Law no. 312/2004, not exceeding the level of one net salary per month.
Central bank Governor Mugur Isarescu decided to publish his income early last month after being accused by economist Lucian Isar that he retired in 2014 but still holds the position of head of Romania’s National Bank. Mugur Isarescu has revealed his income: EUR 13,601 per month.
“My salary as governor is of EUR 9,495 net monthly, adding the management indemnity of EUR 4,105. In total EUR 13,601,” Mugur Isarescu said during press conference.
