BVB’s turnover in shares, down by 40 pc in July

In July, Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) turnover in shares was RON 408.4 million (EUR 91.9 million), a decrease of more than 40 percent compared to June, when the total turnover was RON 719.1 million (EUR 158.9 million), a press release informs on Wednesday.

In the first seven months of the year, the total turnover in shares was RON 4.651.5 million, with 5.6 percent lower than the same period of 2015.

However, BVB passed quickly over the Brexit vote and its impact over European financial markets.

BET Total Return (BET-TR) increased in July with 7.76 percent. The BET-TR index is reflecting the evolution of ten most liquid stocks listed on the BVB, included in the BET and dividends distributed to shareholders by these companies. In June, the main index of BVB – BET – went up by 3.89 percent.

Average daily equity trading value was RON 19.4 million (EUR 4.3 million), compared to RON 34.2 million (EUR 7.5 million) in June. Since the beginning of the year, average daily equity trading on BVB was RON 31.4 million (EUR 6.9 million), 6.1 percent lower than in same period of the last year.

In July 2016, investors had traded fund units, bonds and structured products in total stock over RON 446 million (EUR 99.4 million).

The market capitalization of all companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange was RON 131.7 billion (EUR 29.5 billion) in July 2016. Of this amount, the market capitalization of Romanian companies was RON 71.4 billion (EUR 16 billion), up from the previous month.

In June, the most traded five shares were: Banca Transilvania (TLV), Fondul Proprietatea (FP), Romgaz (SNG), Electrica (EL) and BRD – Groupe Societe Generale (BRD), with a total value of more than RON 300 million.
