Competition Council fines Siveco and Intrarom RON 8m for faking a public auction

The Competition Council (CC) has fined Siveco and Intrarom by more than RON 8 million (approx. EUR 1.75 million) for faking a public procurement procedure organised by the Agency for Payments and Interventions in Agriculture (APIA) in 2008, for awarding the framework-agreement for expanding and developing the IT system, hotnews.ro informs.

The estimated value of the framework-agreement was of EUR 12 million, VAT excluded, CC informs in a release.

Intrarom was fined RON 2,125,796.48 and Siveco Romania S.A. RON 5,883,899.07.

The investigation was triggered by information provided by the Court of Auditors.

The Competition Council claims has got evidence regarding the deal reached by the two companies, so that Intrarom SA took part to the auction only formally, in order to complete the necessary number of participants, without competing against Siveco Romania SA.

The investigation has not led to evidence regarding violating the competition law about the other two participating companies, IBM Romania SRL and Teamnet International SA, the release also reads.
