The Competition Council (CC) has conducted Tuesday and Wednesday unannounced inspections at the premises of four companies operating on the wood market and at two forestry departments, with the suspicion of agreements between these companies, said on Thursday the president of the institution, Bogdan Chiriţoiu.
The companies surveyed are Kronospan Romania SRL, Kronospan Sebes SA, Alredia SRL and Lacul Codrilor SRL, and the Forestry departments are those of Alba and Hunedoara counties.
Chiriţoiu said that CC has started this year an investigation into possible understandings between the four companies on sharing the market and the supply sources, as well as the adjudication of wood at a minimum price in the auctions organized by the two forestry departments.
“The study we are conducting on the wood market indicates that there are problems in this sector, especially regarding the auctions. In this context, we carefully analyze the cases where there were auctions with fewer participants, as well as when the adjudicated price was very low,” Chiriţoiu said.
