Competition Council – investigation on the market of related services to natural gas distribution

The Competition Council has initiated an investigation on the market of related services to the natural gas distribution operations. The inquiry concerns a possible anticompetitive agreement between SC Megaconstruct, Mega Conect and Instalaţii Montaj Tehnologic in order to set the execution tariffs of the equipment for using natural gas and for sharing the customers.

The Competition Council also suspects Megaconstruct’s possible abuse of dominant position by conditioning natural gas distribution of the equipments to use it, capital.ro informs.

During the investigation, unannounced inspections were conducted at the premises and at the workstations of the companies Megaconstruct, Mega Conect and Instalaţii Montaj Tehnologic.

Unannounced inspections are authorized by the Bucharest Court of Appeal and are justified by the need to obtain all information and necessary documents for the clarification of possible anticompetitive practices under analysis.

The documents seized during inspections are analyzed by the Romanian competition authority, under specific procedures of investigation.
