The Ministry for Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds (MDRAPFE) has announced the signing of funding contracts worth almost EUR 220 million for upgrading county roads, which are to be rehabilitated and modernised through the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.
The European Commission allocated to Romania through this programme EUR 6.6 billion, of which the UE contribution expected to be absorbed this year amounts to EUR 129.74 million, the equivalent to an absorption rate at year end of 1.97%, the lowest of the nine European programmes developed by the Development Ministry, capital.ro informs.
The contract signed on Friday by Development Minister Sevil Shhaideh targets the upgrading of county road 19C Nuşfalău – Crasna – Zalău – Creaca (Sălaj County) for improving the traffic conditions, for the development of the north-western region of Salaj County and for improving the standard of living for 88,000 inhabitants of the communes crossed by the county road DJ 191C.
The overall investment amounts to EUR 26.8 million, of which the grant is of EUR 26.2 million, i.e. 98% of the project’s eligible value.
The contract aims at upgrading and the modernisation of 36.8 km of county roads.
The Development Ministry anticipates for this year that it will sent payment applications of over EUR 1.9 billion to the European Commission, i.e. 8.3% of the money allotted by the EU for such programmes.
