Fin Min: 20 pc of public administration is inefficient. Social security contributions from employees and employers could go down

About 20 percent of the current public administration is inefficient in their positions, Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici told Digi24 on Sunday. He gave clues about a possible reform of public administration, for the first time since the start of discussions on two laws with a major impact on the state budget – the new Tax Code and the new law on public sector salaries.
In addition, Teodorovici has said he wants to cut the social security contributions for both employees and employers, but avoided saying when.
In public administration, “there are people who sacrifice their lives, their families, their free time. There are people who spend more than eight hours a day at work, they work 10-12-14 hours a day. I’m not saying they all do that. There is a lot of people working in the state system that at 14.00h, perhaps even earlier – they get out through the door. And if they stay at the office, they work for just one hour. Well, they have to leave the public administration,” said Eugen Teodorovici.
The Finance Minister added that the next fiscal easing measure will be to cut the social security contributions. Eugen Teodorovici avoided yet to say when exactly this might happen or how much will they be reduced.
He promised, however, that this one will be the next fiscal easing measure to be applied by the government.
