Romanian Auto Registry received from VW lists including more than 50,000 cars having emission devices. VW sales down by 30 pc in September

The Romanian Auto Registry (RAR) received from the Volkswagen representation in Romania, to date, lists of over 50,000 vehicles on the local market equipped with emission devices, out of the over 100,000 cars listed by the Romanian authorities.
“The lists are continuously updated, now their number exceeds 50,000 units and include vehicles branded Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen”, RAR has informed.
According to the RAR officials, the investigations are ongoing, while the measures proposed by the VW group and their implementation calendar are to be approved by the German homologation authority Kraftfahrt-Bundesamts.
Subsequent to the approved measures, the Romanian Auto Registry will act in accordance with European regulations applicable in the case of recalled vehicles (Article 32 of Directive 2007/46 /EC, regulation transposed into national law by Emergency Ordinance 78/2000.
The RAR representatives say that the registry will issue identity cards for the new vehicles equipped with Euro 5 diesel engines of generation EA 189, after the application of the package of measures approved to address the nonconformities, an issue communicated by the manufacturer for each vehicle.

Volkswagen car sales in Romania fell by 30.6 pc in September

Volkswagen sales in Romania fell by 30.6% in September, following the scandal regarding the emission devices, as compared to August, the German brand falling on the third place from the second position in the top of car sales.

Thus, 716 VW cars were sold in Romania in September and 6,939 this year.

The other brand of the Volkswagen group present in the top ten on the Romanian market (Skoda) had higher sales in September by 25.7%, with 762 units sold, which ensured it the second place in the manufacturers’ rankings, after Dacia.
