Wizz Air to open air base in Iasi next year, will introduce five new routes

Wizz Air will open an air base in Iasi next summer and will introduce five new routes to Bologna, Catania, Larnaca, Rome and Tel Aviv, while the frequency of flights to London and to Milan from Iasi will be supplemented.
Wizz Air commercial director Gyorgy Abran has announced on Thursday, during a press conference, the opening of an airbase in Iasi as of July 1, 2016, and the allocation of an Airbus A320 for international flights from Iasi airport.
He also said that Wizz Air will operate five new routes starting July from Iasi to Bologna, Catania, Larnaca, Rome Ciampino and Tel Aviv. The flight to Bologna will be operated three times a week, while the rest will have a frequency of two flights per week. Tickets are already available for sale on the company’s website, starting from RON 129.
The Wizz Air management has announced also the increase in number of flights from Iasi to London, from two to five a week and to Milan Bergamo from two to three per week.
“Iasi is the sixth airport in the country where we establish an operational base. We’ll have a total of 16 aircraft in Romania next year, as in Bucharest we will allocate another aircraft of Airbus A321 type, with 230 seats. We operate eight airports in Romania and we have a market share of 29.5 percent. We carried 3.4 million passengers in 2014, and this year we expect an increase of 19%,” Gyorgy Abran said.
Wizz Air currently has three international flights from the airport in Iasi, to Treviso, London and Milan Bergamo.
On Iasi airport currently operate four companies, namely Tarom, Austrian Airlines, Wizz Air and Blue Air.
