Nokian Tyres Opens Major Tire Factory in Oradea, Romania

The Nokian Tires company from Finland inaugurated the tire factory in Oradea, a 650 million euro project. It is estimated that the number of employees will reach 300 by the end of the year, and another 200 will come in 2025. The plant produced its first tire in July 2024.

The project is being expanded to an annual capacity of 6 million tires, with potential for future development. The factory will focus on the production of car tires, which will be sold mainly in the Central European market, being strategically located for customers in this region.

The total value of the project is approximately 650 million euros. To finance its investment in sustainable tire production, Nokian Tires will receive state aid from the Romanian government in the amount of approximately 100 million euros and an investment loan from the European Investment Bank in the amount of 150 million of euros.
The planned number of employees for the factory in Oradea is approximately 500 people. By the end of 2024, their number is expected to reach 300, and the recruitment process will continue in 2025.
The total area of ​​the factory is about 54 hectares. The facilities include the manufacturing facility, a tire storage and distribution center, as well as compounding, utility and administrative buildings. The built area totals approximately 100,000 square meters.
“The opening of this factory is an important step for our economic and ecological future. It is a clear example of how we can combine cutting-edge technology with protecting the environment, while providing well-paid and sustainable work opportunities for our community,” said Bihor Prefect Dragos Marcel Daniel.
