Number of Ukrainians employed in Romania posts record high

The number of Ukrainian nationals getting employed in Romania after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine reached a record this week, according to a weekly report by the Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity.

As of August 7, 2023, 6,850 employment contracts were concluded countrwide for Ukrainian nationals who fled the war, a record since February 24, 2022.

Of the 6,850 Ukrainians employed in Romania after the outbreak of the war, 1,390, work in the processing industry, and 1,215 in construction. Another 815 are employed by hotels and restaurants, and 747 by retailers.

Most of them, 2,863, are working in Bucharest, 388 in Timis County and 377 in Constanta County.

In addition to the 6,850 employment contracts concluded after the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation there are 1,125 employment contracts concluded before February 24, 2022.
