Orange Romania: growing revenues, customers slightly declining at end-September

The subsidiary of France Telecom in Romania recorded in the first nine months of the year, revenues of EUR 697 million, up by 3.2 percent compared to January-September 2014, according to the financial report of the international group.

Thus, Orange Romania recorded in the third quarter of this year revenues of EUR 243.2 million, an increase of 7 percent compared to the same period of last year, a press release informs on Thursday.

At the same time, the number of customers fell by 2.2 percent in January-September period, to 10.284 million, but the portfolio of users grew by 79,000 in the third quarter, compared to June 30.

“Orange TV service has had a constant evolution both on the number of users and on the content and innovation. Currently, over 250,000 subscribers have access to Orange programs on TV,” the release reads.

Also, the 4G internet mobile traffic grew by 60 percent compared to the second quarter of this year and by 6 times compared to the same period last year.

Orange has the most extensive 4G network in Romania with 96 percent of the urban population and 71 percent – the national population (over 4,200 locations).

In the third quarter, the number of 4G smartphones sold was almost double compared to the sales in the third quarter of 2014 and sales of 4G tablets were 4 times higher.
