Orange Romania revenue, up by almost 5 pc in H1 of 2016

In the first six months of the year, Orange Romania, subsidiary of France Telecom group, recorded revenues of EUR 475.9 million, up by 4.9 percent compared to the first half of the previous year, an evolution supported by an increased number of subscriptions and mobile data usage, a press release informs on Tuesday.

Telecom operator recorded total revenues of EUR 240.5 million, up by 3.3 percent year-on-year, a rate slightly slowed down due to the EU roaming regulation. However, at end-June, the company had 9.846 million customers a decrease of 359,000 customers, and 1.6 million of them use 4G services, with an increase of 2.8 times compared to the same period last year.

“We ended the first half with a solid commercial and financial performance, strengthening the company’s leading position on the mobile services market. (…) In the context of a highly competitive price market, our strategy is to assure the best experience through the network’s coverage and performance, through the diversity of offers and professionalism and expertise in assistance services in all interaction points,” Liudmila Climoc, CEO Orange Romania stated.

In June, the number of 4G terminals has doubled over the same period last year. In H1 of 2016 Orange Romania sold 32 percent more smartphones than the same period last year, while the share of customers who preferred smartphones grew from 54 percent last year to 68 percent this year.

At the same time, the number of Orange TV Go users has increased continuously, so that the monthly average number in H1 of this year was 57 percent higher y-o-y. Orange Home TV via satellite continues to attract more customers, reaching the end of June to over 305,000 subscribers.
