Porsche Engineering, technology services provider and wholly owned subsidiary of Porsche, is strengthening its presence in Romania and announcing the official opening of its physical office in Timișoara, with long-term development plans. This approach is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence locally, and in 2023 Porsche Engineering aims to expand the local team with over 100 new colleagues, of which approximately 50 developers and software engineers will be employed in Timișoara.
“By opening the office in Timișoara, we are taking an important step in the process of consolidating the presence of Porsche Engineering in Romania,” said Dirk Lappe, CTO of the international Porsche Engineering group and Chairman of the Shareholders’ Committee for the branch in Romania. “We want to continue the story of success in developing software for the smart and connected vehicles of the future in this innovation-driven environment – working together with bright minds and local talent. As with our first Romanian location in Cluj-Napoca, we want to accelerate innovation in the field of software development for the automotive industry, and at the same time cultivate relationships with our partners and the entire community.”
The Timișoara office is located in the city center, in the United Business Center building in Iulius Town Timișoara. It has a surface of 2,110 m² and is a modern, digitized space adapted for the hybrid working style.
“Porsche Engineering is a company with a strong innovative spirit, and the individual is its driving force. Through the investment we are making in our office in Timișoara, a location equipped with technologies that support the hybrid working mode, which provides colleagues with modern internal communication channels, we want to continue strengthening a culture where people come first place,” explained Marius Mihailovici, Managing Director of Porsche Engineering in Romania. “Furthermore, we want to remain an important part of conversations and actions regarding social challenges or volunteer events in the long term, but also to continue to be a strong partner in terms of innovation, education and social involvement,” added Mihailovici. Therefore, the company aims to further contribute to the development of the local software industry for the automotive segment, to prepare the current and future generation of talents in the field of technology, but also to play a role in the development of society. Social activities involving the company’s employees, as well as volunteer work in the community, are key elements of Porsche Engineering’s culture.
Porsche Engineering Romania continues its local expansion and undertakes to strengthen its involvement in the development of the city and community of Timișoara, relying on close collaboration with local authorities and academic partners, such as the Politehnica University of Timișoara.
In 2023, Porsche Engineering Romania aims to recruit over 100 people in the two locations in Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara, who have skills in areas such as AI, Big Data, Cloud, Infotainment, ADAS, Connectivity, but also in other segments of the automotive IT sphere that will support the development of smart and connected vehicles of the future.
