Renewable energy counting for half of the national electricity production in the past 2 days

Renewable energy sources provided 56 percent of the national electricity production on Wednesday morning, for second day in a row, according the Romanian national electricity company Transelectrica on its website.

On Wednesday, at 9:30 am, wind power made up 27.10 percent of the total production (2,223 MW), followed by hydro-power with 26.31 percent (2,158 MW), while photovoltaic power amounted to 2.71 percent of the production (222MW).

Coal produces 18.11 percent (1,485 MW), nuclear energy amounts to 16.63 percent (1,364 MW), hydrocarbons to 8.56 percent (702 MW), whereas biomass to 0.59 percent (48 MW).

Electricity in Romania is mostly relying on coal, followed by hydro power and nuclear power.

The domestic overall production had reached 8,225 MW on Wednesday morning, with 6,959 MW for internal use and the rest for export.
