Minister of Transports Sorin Buse on Thursday informed that works on Cunta-Saliste section of the Sibiu-Orastie highway would be concluded by the end of September the latest. However, the road traffic will not be resumed until all safety conditions are met.
The minister had announced early this week that repairing works on that section, which had been demolished after the road caved in due to landslides, had been resumed.
Buse, who paid a working visit on the building yard of the Sebes-Turda motorway, also stated that before the road traffic was resumed, a technical expertise would be conducted on the 22-km section.
6 kilometers of the total of 22 km have been affected by landslides. Therefore, 200 meters of the highway near kilometer 60 has been demolished and is now being completely re-built.
The contract for this motorway section was signed in May 2011, with a value of EUR 182.9 M.
