Retail trade turnover up by 8.1pc in seven months

The retail trade turnover, excluding trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 8.1% in the first seven months of this year, as compared to the similar period in 2016, a press release from the National Statistics Institute (INS) informs on Monday.

“The volume of turnover for retail trade (excluding trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles), gross series, during the period January 1-July 31, 2017, against January 1-July 31, 2016 increased by 8.1% (+10.7%) due to the increase in the retail trade of automotive fuel in specialized stores, sales of non-food products (+10.6%) and sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+3.8%),” the document reads.

As adjusted series according to number of working days and seasonality, the growth was of 7.4%.

In July 2017, the retail trade turnover (excluding trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles) grew as gross series by 7.2% and as adjusted series by 1.2% against the previous month.

As against the corresponding month in the previous year, the volume grew both as gross series and as adjusted series by 10.1% and 8.2% respectively.
