Romania imported meat and meat products worth EUR 124.8 million in the first two months of 2018, up by almost 27 percent, National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Meanwhile, the meat exports were almost two times lower than imports and amounted to EUR 63.3 million, although they grew by 14.7 percent in the first two months of this year, compared to the similar period of 2017.
Romania has been in deficit for years on this segment and this situation is continuing in 2018, totaling EUR 61.5 million only in the first two months of 2018.
Last year, Romania recorded a trade deficit of EUR 853.9 million in the agri-food sector, up by 53 percent year-on-year, according to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR).
