Romania Reaches €30 Billion Trade Deficit in First 11 Months

In November 2024, exports amounted to 8,389.4 million euros, and imports amounted to 11,227.1 million euros, resulting in a deficit of 2,837.7 million euros, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Compared to November 2023, exports in November 2024 increased by 1.6%, and imports increased by 6.2%. During the period 1.I-30.XI 2024, exports amounted to 86,111.6 million euros, and imports amounted to 116,166.5 million euros.
During the period 1.I-30.XI 2024, exports decreased by 1%, and imports increased by 3.3%, compared to the period 1.I-30.XI 2023, and the trade balance deficit during the period 1.I-30.XI 2024 was 30,054.9 million euros, higher by 4,518.8 million euros (+17.7%) than that registered during the period 1.I-30.XI 2023.
During the period 1.I-30.XI 2024, important shares in the structure of exports and imports are held by the product groups: machinery and transport equipment (47% in exports and 36.5% in imports) and other manufactured products (28.7% in exports and 28.9% in imports).
The value of intra-EU27 trade in goods in the period 1.I-30.XI 2024 was 62,338.8 million euros in shipments and 83,923.9 million euros in imports, representing 72.4% of total exports and 72.2% of total imports.
The value of extra-EU27 trade in goods in the period 1.I-30.XI 2024 was 23,772.8 million euros in exports and 32,242.6 million euros in imports, representing 27.6% of total exports and 27.8% of total imports.
