Romania will have 1,000 kilometers of highway in the first half of 2018, many projects being stopped due to lack of building permits, Cătălin Homor, General Manager of National Company of Highways (CNADNR) said on Sunday, quoted by Digi24.
“I’m optimistic. It was a very difficult year for us, a year in which we managed to unlock 90 percent of the projects and whatever happens next year, these projects will be completed: Sebes –Turda entirely, Lugoj-Deva entirely, Suplacu de Barcau-Bors, Mihaiesti-Nadaselu, entering Bucharest on A3,” Homor said.
According to him, the main reason why these projects have experienced difficulties was the concept of implementation. CNADNR official added that the whole system for implementing these infrastructure projects has been changed, starting with the way in which the feasibility studies are being done.
He stressed that each plot of highway under construction was likely to be completed by the end of this year, but after a ‘scan’ it was found that many of the projects had major problems.
Homor assured that the traffic on 22 km between Orastie and Sibiu, the highway part which was demolished, is scheduled to be restored at the end of September.
