Romanian Bagel Brand Luca Expands Internationally

The Romanian bagel brand Luca is expanding outside the country. The company that owns several branches open throughout Romania has chosen to expand its operations abroad as well. Poland is the first country where the pretzels and pastry products under the Luca brand will arrive.

The company that produces the famous Luca pretzels will open its first unit outside of Romania on May 21, in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. By the end of the year, the bagel chain will open several more units along the Vistula River, which runs through the entire territory of Poland, according to the Polish publication rp.pl.

Luca bagel chain was established in 2010, and currently has approximately 150 units where they sell different types of filled pretzels, as well as pies and strudels.

The new simigeria will open at Ludwika Waryńskiego 3A, in the Polna Corner building, which the Polish publication says is a busy place in the city.

The owners who run one of the most popular pretzel brands in Romania show that the expansion outside Romania, on the Polish market comes as a result of the similarities that exist between the two markets, reflected by similar consumption habits. Moreover, the Polish market is a mature one, which is why the Luca owners have relied on an already existing consumer interest, explained Piotr Wilczyński, the chain’s financial director.

“Our customers are usually in a hurry and are looking for a product that they can easily eat while walking or driving. That’s why Luca’s strudel and merden are distinguished by their elastic puff pastry, without excess oil, which does not crumble or leave crumbs,” added Wilczyński.
