Romanian e-book platform Voxa launches in Italy

Voxa, the streaming app for audiobooks and e-books, begins international expansion and expands its operations in Italy. From May 15, the service will be available to Italian listeners, with a library of over 100,000 titles in Italian and English.

In the expansion strategy developed by Voxa, Italy stood out as a major book market, with a total value of approximately 1.8 billion euros in 2023, but with a digital penetration of only 6%, presenting a significant opportunity for growth. In this context, a dynamic new player like Voxa, which contributes to the expansion of the available audiobook catalog, can create the conditions for the market to grow to at least 10% of its total by 2026.

Voxa plans that in the first three months to open local studios to record exclusive content and provide audio production services to publishers.

By the end of 2024, Voxa will invest more than 2 million euros in the development of operations in Italy. In this regard, the company has opened an office in Milan and already has a local team to manage the implementation of the launch and development strategy in Italy. Regional coordination and technology development will be managed by the company’s regional hub in Bucharest.

“The ambitious plans and premieres will continue in Romania, which remains a key market for Voxa. The international expansion does not represent a change in our focus, but proof that we have created a valuable product and business model, which will enjoy recognition abroad. This proves once again that local resources and talent can bring us to the same level as the big players globally. We believe that Voxa technology will be appreciated and successfully adopted in a country like Italy,” says Dan Vidrașcu, CEO of Voxa.

Through Voxa, users in Italy will have access to a vast library of audiobooks, spanning a wide range of literary genres, from fiction to non-fiction, from classic books to the latest bestsellers. Thus, Voxa already has partnerships with the largest publishing groups, including Arnoldo Mondadori Editore and GEMS.

In line with the offer structure in Romania, Voxa will have two unlimited subscription options available: monthly and annual.
