The turnover of the IT&C and electronics retailers in Romania has increased by 8 percent in 2018 as against 2017 and by 37.6 percent compared to 2014, says a KeysFin survey, with the forecast saying the market could exceed RON 36 billion, which is a historical threshold.
The local electronics and IT market has comprised almost 5,000 companies in 2018, 10 big companies, 56 medium companies, 397 small companies and 4,700 micro-companies. The largest share of the turnover has been generated by the big companies, which represented 54% of the total turnover generated by the local retailers last year.
Companies based in Bucharest have generated the largest turnover- RON 22.9 billion, meaning 67.3% of the total. Ilfov ranks second (15%), Cluj comes third (3%). Timis-1.8% and Suceava-1%. Therefore, the first five counties in Romania have seized almost 90% of the turnover of all the local IT&C retailers in 2018.
Bucharest also ranks first on the number of companies, followed by Cluj, Timiş, Bihor and Dolj.
The most sought after electronic appliances products last year were refrigerators, washing machines and the largest sales reported on the IT&C segment went to the phablets and smart accessories.
