Romanian healthy snacks startup Unison launches a €225,000 funding round on SeedBlink

Unison is founded by Tania Nicoară, specialist in plant-based nutrition and Tudor Iacob, entrepreneur in the new-food industry. The startup is launching a public fundraising campaign through SeedBlink, part of the round in which VC fund Mavers Ventures and Angel Investors have already participated. The team’s plans include diversifying the range of snacks and spreads from nuts, seeds and fruits, operational development to increase production capacity and listing in major chain stores.

Among the EU member states, Romania has the lowest daily intake of fruits and vegetables: only 2% of the population consumes at least 5 portions of fruits and vegetables daily.

Unison addresses this issue through the local production of healthy snacks full of nutrients, such as natural nut butters, granola or raw bars, but also through education and information actions.

“The market for healthy plant-based products is growing and we see this directly on store shelves. Unison already has a solid customer base, a portfolio of nutrient-dense products that are very loved by consumers. With this funding we will accelerate sales and significantly expand our product offering. We are happy to be the first local producer to offer this highly affordable investment tool through SeedBlink.”Tudor Iacob, CEO and Co-founder of Unison.

The total financial goal of this pre-seed round is EUR 225,000. Of these, EUR 133,000 have already been raised from Mavers Ventures (Lead VC) and other angel investors.

“We want Mavers Ventures to play an essential role in stimulating innovation, sustainability and transformation in both the technology and food sectors, in the new-food and plant-based area. Our mission is to accelerate the growth of innovative startups that are reshaping the way we produce, distribute and consume healthy food while leveraging cutting-edge technology. Founders are the core value of a company, so Tania and Tudor had a big impact on our final decision to invest in Unison.” Alexandru Boghiu, Managing Partner Mavers Ventures.

“We are happy to support Unison in this important step in the local market. Food can be made fundamentally more sustainable by using fresh plant-based alternatives. We believe there is room for growth for new brands in this market,” said Mircea Ghiță, Country Manager Romania at SeedBlink.
