The number of Romanians who choose to travel by bus on long distance trips is increasing year by year. According to data provided by Europe’s largest intercity bus network, FlixBus, passengers from Romania travelled the most during the summer months (June-August) to Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria, Austria and France.
Budapest, Sofia and Vienna attracted the largest number of Romanian passengers during this period. All these three cities can be reached by FlixBus night lines. Currently, Europe’s largest intercity bus network offers direct connections from Romania to 15 countries.
Long-distance transport by bus in Europe registered a 50% increase globally over previous year, according to FlixBus passenger data. The top FlixBus destinations for Summer 2018 were Berlin, Paris, Munich, Hamburg, Prague, Frankfurt, Vienna, Amsterdam, Rome and Milan.
Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Spain all saw an increase of over 100% over the previous year. While Luxemburg, Norway and Sweden more than tripled their passenger numbers. Portugal saw an increase of more than five times and Poland and Romania top the list and recorded the largest increase of all.
More than 100 million people have traveled with FlixBus since the company launched in Germany in 2013.
