SAP announces the launch of the SAP Labs Site in Bucharest, a digital innovation hub that will contribute to the expansion of SAP’s product and services portfolio, foster local digital talent, and boost ecosystem and community engagement.
Starting July, the new SAP Labs Site in Bucharest is part of the SAP Labs Network, a global R&D network that oversees SAP’s most important engineering activities, with 21 research and development centers across 17 countries around the world, such as Germany, the United States, India, China, and Brazil. Each location focuses on different areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, or process automation, among others, and more than 40.000 employees contribute to the network’s success.
“The new SAP Labs Site in Bucharest comes as a great support to our operations at SAP Romania and will strengthen the local expertise and market presence by growing and nurturing our local talent. In the end, innovation and people are at the heart of everything we do, ” said Diana David, Managing Director SAP Romania.
With its new site in Bucharest, the SAP Labs Network seeks to expand SAP’s product portfolio, as well as attract and develop local digital talent. The network is looking for synergies and closer customer feedback cycles in its development of business applications and processes.
The SAP Labs site in Bucharest is coordinated by the newly appointed site lead Bogdan Cioc and has become part of the SAP Labs SEE Hub – one of the bigger organizations within the company encompassing a wide range of topics and technological expertise. The SAP Labs SEE Hub is set up in cooperation with SAP Labs Bulgaria and under the leadership of Radoslav Nikolov, Managing Director of SAP Labs Bulgaria.
“Combining the extensive engineering experience of SAP in Bulgaria and Romania, we reach a comprehensive level of expertise that covers anything from technology, business applications and processes and services portfolio at a broader scale. We in the South Eastern European region are well set for further expansion and have a unique opportunity of becoming a very important driver for SAP engineering in Europe,” added Radoslav Nikolov, Managing Director SAP Labs Bulgaria.
Bogdan Cioc has graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and the Executive-MBA program of the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis. He started his career in 2002 and joined the team of SAP Romania in 2007, where he was one of the founding members of the Consulting Services Delivery Center in the country. Since joining SAP, he has performed different roles in technical, business, and people management.
“The decision to establish a dedicated R&D facility in Romania comes as a natural progression for SAP. It follows the success of the Services Delivery Center and of the other units established in the country in the past 16 years. With this decision we seek to tap even more into the region’s exceptional talent pool, and foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and technological innovation. The focus on R&D comes front and center and we’re thrilled to increase our region’s contribution to SAP’s exceptional portfolio of business products that shape industries around the world,” Bogdan Cioc, SAP Labs Site Bucharest Lead declared.
