National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) has fined Telekom Mobile RON 1.1 million over an incident in March this year, when the network was congested and no calls or data transfers were possible, as a press release informs.
“The analysis of documents submitted by Telekom Mobile about the security incident that affected its network in March this year has shown that there have been serious violations of the availability of services provided to users. It was the most serious incident on the electronic communications market in Romania, therefore we applied the provider two fines amounting RON 1.1 million,” Sorin Grindeanu, ANCOM President stated.
Telekom Mobile network was affected for more than the allowed 35 minutes of unavailability, nor did it comply with the obligation to keep the network logs recorded at the granularity level of the License.
At that time, the telecom operator specified that the situation arose due to equipment problems and later experienced a congestion effect similar to a snowball, following repeated calls attempts of the affected customers.
