Telekom Romania posted revenues of EUR 241 million, dropping by 7.7 percent in the first quarter of this year, from EUR 261 million in the same period of last year, mainly due to lower termination rates enforced in the second quarter of 2014, according to Deutsche Telekom data, capital.ro informs. Also, the operational profit (EBITDA) recorded a decrease by 16.7 percent to EUR 55 million.
The strongest decline of revenues was recorded by mobile operations: -11.9 percent to EUR 104 million.
The wireline division Telekom Romania Communications’ revenues stood at EUR 148.7 million, or 5.1 percent lower than in Q1 2014, while the voice telephony lines (including CDMA) decreased by 2.8 percent to 2.161 million.
The mobile customer base (including Zapp) at the end of Q1 was approximately 5.9 million, down 2.3 percent from a year earlier. Postpaid customers increased by 7.2 percent year-on-year, reaching 27.7 percent of the total customer base. Mobile data traffic maintained the positive trend, registering an approximately 48 percent annual increase, and the number of postpaid 4G customers increased by 45 percent versus the previous quarter.
The TV customer base grew by 3.2 percent in Q1 2015 to 1.414 million. TV revenues for Q1 2015 were up 9.1 percent compared to a year ago. The number of broadband customers decreased by 2.6 percent to 1.218 million. Broadband revenues in the quarter were stable while broadband subscribers (including mobile) reached 1.217 million.
