The first Romanian CEO named at Cora

Cora Romania’s new CEO is, starting this month, Aura Rădulescu, who will lead a new management team and whose objectives for the next three years are to relaunch the company’s growth and consolidate the business model. She replaces Thierry Destailleur, who becomes Chairman of the Board, a position from which he will provide strategic advice for the company’s development.

Cora Romania, part of the Louis Delhaize group, retailer present on the Romanian market since 2003, is thus appointing for the first time a Romanian on the position of CEO. Thierry Destailleur had been CEO since June 2011.

Aura Rădulescu, the current CEO, was active in sales for 10 years before joining the cora team in 2008. She, in turn, led the non-food and food purchasing centers, so that in 2020 she would take over the management of the cora Procurement Center. In 2021 he received a new role, that of Operations Director.

The top management team is complemented by two new positions, created to support the cora transformation process. Claudia Badea, who until now was the director of the cora Lujerului hypermarket, becomes Director for Digital Commerce and will coordinate the company’s multichannel development. Anca Popescu, the former director of cora Pantelimon, becomes director for Social Responsibility and will coordinate the new strategy regarding the company’s social impact in Romania. Camelia Popescu takes over a new role, that of Director of PR & Public Affairs.

Also, changes were made in the management of some stores, being appointed new directors at the Cora Pantelimon, the Lujerului supermarket (Bucharest), the Brătianu supermarket (Constanța), the Drobeta supermarket and the Ploiești one.
