The contract for the design and execution of the mountain section on the Olt Valley, section 2 on the A1 Sibiu – Pitești, was signed on Monday with an association of companies from Turkey for about 860 million euros. The offer of the Turkish constructor was the only one put up for auction since October 2021.
he section from Boița to Cornetu is dubbed as the most difficult on Sibiu – Pitești, as it will be built exactly on the Olt Valley, it will be over 31 km long, 7 tunnels, 27 of viaducts, 22 bridges and an ecoduct over 200 meters long.
The contract was signed on Monday by The National Company for the Administration Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) with the association of Turkish companies MAP INSAAT VE TICARET A.S. – CENGIZ INSAAT SANAYI VE TICARET A.S. The contract was signed for 4.250 billion lei without VAT (about 860 million euros) and provides 18 months for design and 50 months for execution.
The Turkish bid was the only one submitted in October 2021, after a total of six builders’ associations from Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain and Austria had previously qualified for the final stage of the CNAIR auction.
On the A1 Sibiu – Pitești, work is currently being done on the 13 km from Sibiu to Boița and on the 30 km from Pitești to Curtea de Argeș.
On section 4, Curtea de Argeș – Tigveni, the auction ended with the signing of the contract on November 15, 2021 with the Austrians from PORR.
On section 3 Tigveni – Cornetu, the tender was suspended after one of the bidders challenged the multiple issues and inconsistencies in the specifications.
