Local auto market needs to develop infrastructure for electric cars, considering that there is demand for such vehicles, Jan Ptacek, CEO Renault Commercial Roumanie commercial division of Renault in Romania said, quoted by capital.ro.
Renault has set this year an increase of electric cars sales, especially those of ZOE model, which has a starting price of EUR 22,000 with VAT without battery.
Sales of Renault cars have stagnated in January to 272 cars, Clio’s growth of 52 percent to 132 units, offsetting Captur’s decline of 62 percent. The French brand has plans to restart the sales this year through new models – Megane, coming in March, Kadjar compact SUV launched late last year, as well as the new midsize sedan – Talisman.
The French carmaker rolled into the 2016 Geneva Motor Show with a special-edition Zoe, being Europe’s best-selling all-electric passenger car. ZOE is the first Renault car designed entirely as an all-electric model. The city car, unveiled in 2012, is produced at the Flins plant in France on the same production lines as Clio.
Moreover, with its ZOE, the French half of the Renault-Nissan Alliance is attempting to break through. The car, conceived as electric from the outset rather than adapted from a combustion-engined model, is supermini-sized.
