According to the major taxpayers list with outstanding obligations to the state budget, European Food, owned by the Micula brothers, is Romania’s largest debtor with RON 400.8 million (where RON 400.1 million are disputed tax liabilities), the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) informs on Tuesday.
Hunedoara Energy Complex (CEH) ranks the second with RON 174.7 million, followed by the Romanian public television (SRTV), with RO N 170.3 million.
Fourth position is held by Doly-Com with tax liabilities of RON 101.7 million, of which RON 96.4 million is challenged. Public Games is the fifth with debts of RON 89.4 million.
According to ANAF, 186 big taxpayers with arrears of over RON 100,000, record total tax obligations of RON 2.60 billion, of which RON 1.92 billion are main liabilities and RON 684 million – ancillary obligations.
The taxpayers with fiscal debts received prior notification and were offered them the possibility of tax debt settlement or to clarify the situation.
In the medium enterprises category, there are 2,486 firms with combined debts of RON 3.8 billion. The amount of imposed taxes that have been challenged in court amounts to RON 316 million.
The site where the lists were published is based on similar models as in the United States and the United Kingdom.
