Vodafone launches international ‘Future Changers’ competition to find environmental innovation ideas

Vodafone Romania has announced today the launch of Future Changers – a new international competition for young adults find the best, most innovative ideas on how technology can help the environment.

Running from 23 September to 20 October 2019, the competition is encouraging entrants to submit a written proposal or video featuring their idea through the Vodafone Future Changers online hub at https://careers.vodafone.com/futurechangers.

A shortlist of the best ten ideas will be reviewed by an influential leadership panel, with the winner given the opportunity to bring their idea to life with Imperial College London in addition to a receiving a £5,000 cash prize.  Vodafone Romania will also provide a mentor to help nurture the winning idea to fruition.

Imperial College London will provide the prize winner with support and encouragement through a three-month Incubator programme, which creates, activates and supports entrepreneurial potential through a combination of experiential education and access to Imperial’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The Future Changers competition is a new example of our focus on finding and encouraging new talents, bright minds that have the capacity to contribute to the creation of a positive footprint by taking today’s technology advancements and using them to make a real difference in the world”.

Imperial College London’s Director of Entrepreneurship, Ben Mumby-Croft, said: “At Imperial we’re passionate about nurturing entrepreneurial talent and supporting the next generation of game changers and pioneers to think big, be bold and make a difference. As part of this mission, we’re delighted to be supporting Future Changers and look forward to working with the winning idea. ”

The Future Changers competition builds further on recent Vodafone innovation initiatives, including Bright Sparks – a programme for ten digital start-ups developed in collaboration with Oxford University Innovation which included mentorship and support over a 12 month period.

Vodafone has also partnered with youth-led creative agency Livity, who are co-promoting the Future Changers project.
