Vodafone: Over 80 pc of Romanians in urban area enjoys 4G coverage

Almost half of the population (45 percent) is covered by 4G network provided by Vodafone Romania, while 81 percent of the urban population can access the same type of network, officials of the British telecom operator announced Wednesday in a press conference, Agerpres informs, on which occasion the Voice over LTE (VoLTE).

In November, 4G + network covered six Romanian major cities, while in Vodafone’s portfolio there were 58 intelligent terminals models equipped for 4G technology.

Back to VoLTE, it’s about a service which enables customers to enjoy High Definition (HD) Voice calls with call setup times of less than a second and paves the way to advanced and interoperable services that facilitate multimedia communication and collaboration at the same time as the voice call is being made. This means that videocall, instant messaging, video streaming or 4G browsing services can all be used during the call. Such an experiment was made in the press event, through a conversation with Romanian tennis player Simona Halep. During the conversation, Simona has sent pictures and a video file.

VoLTE, available from 2015 in Romania, provides higher quality and more stable and secure 4G voice communications, with the simplicity of use of a mobile call. The tests conducted to date prove just how far the new technology enhances the 4G network user experience.

In addition, the British telecom operator announced also testing the Call+ service, based on the VoLTE technology, which allows the caller to add more information on the screen of the called person.
