Vodafone Signs MoU to Acquire Telekom Romania Assets

Vodafone Romania has signed a Memorandum of Understanding as an initial step to acquire Telekom Romania Mobile Communications, including a significant portion of its assets from Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE). Additionally, Digi Romania will acquire part of the assets.

“This is an important moment for the telecom market in Romania, with significant growth potential upon the completion of this transaction. Since taking on the role of CEO at Vodafone Romania, I have believed that the industry needs conditions to support high levels of 5G investment and promote innovation. I am thrilled with today’s announcement, which once again demonstrates Vodafone’s commitment to Romania. We continue to invest and provide Romanians with services of the highest standards,” stated Achilleas Kanaris, CEO of Vodafone Romania.

The transaction’s completion is subject to a range of legal processes, including the completion of due diligence and obtaining prior approvals from relevant authorities. At this stage, no additional details are available regarding final approval, given the early phase of the process.

Simultaneously, Vodafone reaffirms its commitment to Romania, with local investments exceeding €200 million this year. Total investments over Vodafone’s 27-year presence in Romania amount to over €6.5 billion.
