The wages in the private sector increased by 8 percent and bonuses by 22 percent in the third quarter of this year compared with the same period last year, Smartree Workforce Index shows, continuing the trend from the previous quarter.
“This is explained by the growing competition between the companies on the labor market. Firstly, many employers are facing now huge difficulties in finding the necessary staff and then to keep them,” Adrian Stanciu, CEO Smartree said.
According to the Smartree analysis, IT and retail, the booming sectors in Romania, are in the position to curb development due to manpower lack. This situation gave rise to the recruitment method directly from the competing companies, which has also led to higher wages. On the opposite side are banking and insurance domains, where the wages grew very slowly.
At the same time, Retail and Shared Service Center’s are the industries that have reported the most employments, according to Smartree data.
Smartree Index refers also to the rest leaves situation in the market, as well as to the sick leaves, all these indicators influencing the employee wellbeing. Number of annual rest leave days has evolved in the third quarter by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2015, while the number of sick days taken by employees increased by a significant percentage of about 17 percent.
