Werner-Wilhelm Wolff has announced the end of his mandate of Tarom general manager on Thursday, one year and four months since he has taken office.
In 2018, Tarom has carried over 2.8 million passengers. Wolff said that without the passengers’ support and confidence, Tarom would not have managed to report last year the highest incomes in the past seven years.
According to a balance sheet sent by the general manager, Tarom reported incomes of RON 1,412 billion in 2018, the highest in the past seven years, up by 22 percent. The national carrier also had the highest load factor in the past 10 years, of 73% and operated 19,070 flights, the most ever registered.
Tarom has registered a marked fall of the EBITDA financial indicator from RON 105,813,993 to RON -33,268,411 during 2015-2018. Last year, the same indicator came back on, up to RON 10,896,760. The loss recovery totaled RON 44 million in 2018. Tarom paid RON 99,176,559 to the state budget in 2018.
Transport minister Răzvan Cuc had announced on Wednesday night that a new general manager of Tarom will be appointed, with local media revealing that Tarom’s current flight manager, Florin Susanu is in the cards for the GM position to replace Wolff, following the General Meeting of Shareholders’s green light.
A new TAROM board of directors was also named, consisting of Mircea Tudosie, the director of Romanian Post, Sorin Paul Stoicescu, Petre Neacsa, secretary general within the Transport Ministry, George Rotaru, director of the Romanian Aero Club, Gabriela Mocanu, Razvan Cuc’s adviser, and Luminita Ivan, civil servant within the Transport Ministry, Libertatea reported.
