Which sectors in Romania are the UAE investors interested in?

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister, Sultan Bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, has visited Romania on Tuesday within the first meeting of the Joint Co-operation Committee hosted between Romania’s Government and the Government of the United Arab Emirates, announcing that several concrete projects of potential investments had been identified. The UAE investors are mainly interested in Romania in such sectors as energy, transport, infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, tourism or real estate. UAE is Romania’s first economic partner in the Gulf region.

The UAE FM has met Romanain President Klaus Iohannis and PM Viorica Dancila.


According to a press release of the Presidential Administration, President Iohannis considers the Joint Co-operation Committee’s first meeting as a concrete step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation at all levels, focusing on the economic sectors, while pointing out that the efforts to boost commercial exchanges and investments remain a priority in the bilateral relation.

Therefore, the bilateral Business Forum represents an impulse for capitalizing on the potential of the two countries’ economic ties, according to the Presidency’s release.

In his turn, Sultan Bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, said the UAE authorities are ready to open a new chapter in the relation with Romania, that he deems of strategic importance.

Romanian PM Viorica Dancila also met Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber on Tuesday, stating that the Government is recalibrating its focus to Romania’s traditional partners in the Gulf region, while relations with the United Arab Emirates represent a priority.

As for the Joint Co-operation Committee, both Romania and UAE voiced interest to boost cooperation in such fields as agriculture, transports, infrastructure, energy IT and cyber security, but also education and culture.
