World leading car parts manufacturer to invest EUR 30 M in Romania

Japan-based Calsonic Kansei, one of the world’s leading car parts manufacturers, is expanding to Romania and invests EUR 30 million in a new electronic parts factory in Ploiesti, creating almost 300 new jobs, Ministry for the Business Environment announced in a press release on Monday.

”The final decision was taken as a result of the talks held by Minister Ilan Laufer with the representatives of Calsonic Kansei on the occasion of his visit to Japan last September, and was communicated through an official letter from Hiroyuki Horii, Operations Director for Romania, ” the release reads.

During the visit to Asia, Romanian Minister Ilan Laufer and Teiji Teramoto, Head of Global Business Mizuho Bank signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry for the Business Environment and Mizuho Bank on the cooperation to stimulate and support through the financial institution of bilateral investments and the promotion of the economic expansion of Romanian and Japanese companies. Thus, Mizuho Bank will bring new Japanese investments to Romania, while financially supporting some of them.

In the first half of 2017, Romanian-Japanese trade amounted to USD 303.16 million, out of which Romanian exports amounted to USD 110.60 million (up 2.54 percent over the same period of the previous year) and USD 192,56 million (up by 9.34 percent).
