Over 35 NGOs launched an appeal to president Klaus Iohannis so that the future prime minister but also the member of the Government should be designated based on expertize and integrity standards, with a similar action to be taken within the Presidential Administration staff by the end of the year.
The NGOs told the President there is a common denominator of the recent street claims, namely the anti-corruption fight and the reform the political class. In their view, a first sign towards a different way to go in for politics is the designation of the future candidate for the PM position.
The signatory organizations ask the future premier designate and member of the Gov’t to not have been involved in corruption scandals or in committing crimes, to not have been prosecuted or indicted for such deeds, to not have been involved in conflict of interests cases.
They also ask the President the future premier should not have occupied leading positions in the former Communist Party, should not have been informer or member of the former Securitate political police nor of the current intelligence services.
